April 17th - Press Release

Postby Domanic Taylor » Mon Nov 22, 2010 1:58 pm

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

It is with regret that I have to announce this. Though my tenure as headmaster of Xavier's in London has been short, it has been a rewarding experience for both me, and my family. I believe in this university, and what it can do for its students. However with that belief comes a responsibility to step aside when the university can be better served. Due to health and family issues that I will not disclose at this time, I find myself unable to execute my duties as headmaster, to the detriment of the university. At first I had believed that my hiatus would be temporary, but its prolonged nature has convinced me that I cannot delay this decision any longer. Effective immediately, I am stepping down as headmaster. I have faith that the trustees will be more than able to pick a suitable replacement.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

We thank Mr. Taylor for his aid in making this transition as orderly and painless as possible. We have worked extensively with him in the past, and have faith that we will work with him again in the future, if not in his former capacity as headmaster.

While we have deliberated long and hard over this decision, ultimately we came to the conclusion that the ideal choice for the position would be someone who has had a history with Xavier's, both with the Salem Institute, and with the campus here in London. Thus it is with great pride and pleasure that we announce the beginning of Samantha McManus' tenure as headmistress. During Mr. Taylor's hiatus, Professor McManus has proved invaluable in running the day to day workings of the university, and we rather believe this trend will continue now that the decision has been made official.

Regards,

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Like Mr. Taylor, I believe in this university. With no disrespect to him, its relationship with the British Government and the people of London itself has deteriorated in his absence. He has always been a dear friend to me and will remain so. Thus I am pleased that he has worked with the trustees to make this transition possible and allow the university to move forward.

I have the utmost confidence in the team working under me, and together I believe we can rededicate ourselves to better serving this city and the public good. I promise that I will be committed to the excellence that the Xavier's name stands for, and the openness that Professor Xavier has taught us all for decades.

Mutatis Mutandis,
--Samantha McManus
